A photograph of Jess aka Loadofolbobbins a smiling and friendly looking white woman with hair up and standing in a forest path.

Hi 👋 I'm Jess!

Also known as Loadofolbobbins, the textile artist and illustrator behind everything here on this website.

Based by the sea in Portsmouth here in the UK. I draw my inspiration from nature, in particular birds and my fave the pigeon, as well as classic tales from literature.

10 years and counting...

2024 marked the big 10 year anniversary here at Loadofolbobbins and we've definitely seen some big changes in that time! But what has never changed is my love for creating new and unique pieces of wearable art that bring a smile to your face on even the gloomiest of days!

A woman’s white hand is in the bottom right corner holding an Apple Pencil and drawing on her iPad. The drawing is a close up of a section of a flying birds which is done in a sketchy pink pencil outline.

Original

All my pieces start life as one of my unique and original illustrations either created using my trusty iPad and Apple pencil or at my sewing machine using the free motion embroidery technique.

Goldfinch and blossom necklace by Loadofolbobbins. A laser cut wooden necklace that shows an illustrated goldfinch on a tree branch that has two light pink collection of blossoms standing proud. The necklace hangs on an antique bronze chain. It is being worn by me a white woman wearing a light turquoise speckled top. You can just see the bottom of my face and neck.

Fun & Functional

There's always a slight air of whimsy to the things I create, which I make sure to balance with wearability and comfort. As a bit of a maker perk I do keep a few pieces for myself and am happy to say I've tried and tested them for a good few years now with no issues.
